Here’s a great video by KenmoreHealth about an Australian doctor, Arthur Efremov, who tried acupuncture for knee pain for himself to see if acupuncture really works. Of course, the answer was “Yes”. He tried it for his sore knee, and after 6 treatments was able to run to the top of a football stadium! I hope you enjoy it.
Everybody want to know, “How does it work?” As an acupuncturist trained in Oriental Medicine, I always want to say, “We move qi and blood.” However, I always know that my American patients want a more scientific explanation. This video goes into a great explanation of one theory of how acupuncture works–it stimulates the body to release endorphins, a neuropeptide released by the central nervous system and the pitutiary gland to calm the nerves and inhibit pain signals from reaching the brain. There is also a sense of euphoria associated with endorphins, which is probably why so many of my patients come to my office looking rather down trodden and leave with a smile on their faces.
It also talks about acupuncture for fertility, another great use for acupuncture. One woman says that she visited her acupuncturist mostly for help with early onset menopause, but was able to get pregnant after all. Her baby girl was born on Christmas, so they call her their Christmas miracle.
If you want to feel free again to do the activities you love to do, either running to the top of a football stadium or just walking around the block, please give me a call at 630-605-9244 or visit my website at www.myinnerharmony.com. Acupuncture for knee pain is a long proven success. And for fertility it increase the chances of in vitro fertilization being successful by 50%
